William and Kate to tour Borneo Rainforests and Tuvalu Islands

The rainforests of Borneo will soon be welcoming some truly eminent guests into its natural folds. Well, one is referring to the young British royals, Prince William and Kate Middleton who have a hectic schedule ahead of them, to some of the globe's most exotic destinations over the next few months.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will be jet-setting off, in the second leg of their royal tour, visiting one of the world's most remotely populated islands. It is believed that during this visit to the rainforests of Bornea, the royal couple might be lucky to come face-to-face with some orangutans.

William and Kate are also likely to be enlightened about the efforts made to preserve the globe’s oldest rainforest, said to be dating back to a whopping 130 million years. Other countries included in the royal itinerary are Singapore, Malaysia and the Solomon Islands with the couple making an overnight halt at the Pacific Islands of Tuvalu.

Way back in 1982, Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip first sailed off to the tiny Commonwealth nation. Now thirty years later their grandson William and his wife Kate will be the first members of the royal family to visit the islands.

Tulava islands shown in a map
Tuvalu is a circular archipelago of tiny islands, lying midway between Hawaii and Australia, covering a total area of barely 10 square miles. It is the fourth-smallest nation in the world with a miniscule population of 10,000 only.

Most of the island is barely 2ft above sea level, which means that if the sea levels continue to rise due to the polar ice caps thawing, the entire island will be wiped out flat in no time.

A traditional welcome is accorded to all visitors who arrive by sea to the tiny island. As per Tuvalu custom the visitors are welcomed by being carried ashore, shoulder-height in canoes. That was just how the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh had been ushered as well years ago.

However, since William and Kate will be visiting Tuvalu by flying directly to the island’s tiny airport, they will  be welcomed with a garland of flowers instead. Tuvalu has some of the best diving locations in the world and it is barely wider than a six-lane motorway for most of its length.

William and Kate are expected to stay in the island’s only plush hotel namely the Vaiaku Lagi Hotel which has 16 rooms. The royal couple’s tour itinerary announced by St James’s Palace is as follows:

They will be arriving in Singapore on Sept. 11, 2012. After which they will be traveling to the Malaysian capital Kuala Lumpur and the province of Sabah in Borneo. From Malaysia the royals will be flying to Tuvalu via the Solomon Islands.

The final leg of their tour will be to the Polynesian island on September 19, 2012. This world tour by William and Kate is in celebration of the Queen Elizabeth’s Diamond Jubilee as Her Majesty’s representatives.

famous colorful and unique form of
Tuvaluan dance.
This will be William and Kate’s first foreign tour since visiting Canada and America in July last year. The couple will be accompanied by an entourage of nine persons. It will also include a hairdresser for the Duchess.

The royals and the entourage will use scheduled flights to get to and from the Far East, with a combination of small charter aircraft and planes provided by the Malaysian government for the shorter hops.

Other accompanying the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge on the trip are Jamie Lowther-Pinkerton, the Duke’s private secretary; Rebecca Deacon, the Duchess’s aide and “girl Friday”; Sir David Manning, the foreign office adviser, three press aides, a personal assistant and one orderly.

The tour details are expected to be made public next month only.

Duchess Kate oozes elegance in skin-tight sportswear at Olympic torch relay

The dashing British Royals, Prince William, Prince Harry and Duchess Kate were in their sporting element yesterday (26th July, 2012) as they proudly waited for the Olympic torch to pass by Buckingham Palace.

torch to arrive. Image:cdn2.gossipcenter.com
Being official Olympic Ambassadors, the royals were dressed in Team GB Adidas polo shirts. They were also joined by 40 athletes from the Team GB Ambition programme which aims at encouraging future sports stars.

Catherine, aka, the Duchess of Cambridge, was elegance personified at the venue, even though she was just wearing a sportswear. She looked absolutely chic in a pair of skinny blue jeans which she had teamed with a perfect fitting white top.

In fact, the royal trio of Wills, Kate and Harry seemed to be having the time of their lives as they cracked jokes, burst into laughter and waved in excitement at the crowds even as they witnessed the historic occasion unfolding before their eyes.

It was just past 6.30 pm when the torch arrived at the Buckingham Palace. The royals predictably had each chosen someone from their charities to do the honor of being the torch bearer of the iconic flame.

Mountain rescuer, John Hulse from Ogwen Valley was nominated by Prince William, as the Duke is a Patron of Mountain Rescue England and Wales. Prince Harry chose Wai-Ming Lee from charity Map Action, while Kate Middleton’s nominee was Scout volunteer Jon Sayer from Todmorden.

A thrilled Jon was over the moon having got an opportunity to not only be the torch bearer but also get a chance to thank the Duchess in person for nominating him. Jon is a committed Scout volunteer, who as a lifeguard jumped into a river and saved a drowning man’s life.

Later he gushed to the Mirror: “It was an unbelievable honor - a day I won’t forget for a long time.” He went on to state: “I got to meet Kate afterwards and we spoke at great length about what we do with our Scouts.”

According to the Scot, Kate Middleton does the same kind of activities on a weekly basis that all others do. “She said she was loving it. “We spoke about the flame and I said ‘thank you for nominating me’ and she said ‘I didn’t put you here, you put yourself here’,” disclosed an awestruck Jon.

Wills, Kate and Harry enjoy themselves at sports coaches festival

Budding sports coaches flaunted their training skills before the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry when they visited the Beacon’s College in Rotherhithe, Greenwich today (Thursday, July 26, 2012).

The royal trio visited the academy school located at south-east London, where they joined hundreds of young people taking part in a sports festival and even caught up with trainee coaches.

Prince William and Duchess Kate along-with Harry were there to participate in the launch of a new project that is supported by their own foundation. ‘Coach Core’ is a new coaching initiative aimed at training teens between 16 to 19 years to become competent coaches and mentors for their schools and communities.

‘Coach Care’ programme is a joint venture between the Royals charity foundation and Greenhouse charity org, one of those charities to benefit out of the Cambridges’ wedding fund. This latest sports initiative has been set up in recognition of London hosting the Olympics which is to be inaugurated by Queen Elizabeth tomorrow.

Earlier today, the Team GB and Paralympics GB ambassadors Prince William, Duchess Kate and Prince Harry arrived in style in a chauffeur-driven limousine. William and Harry were dressed casually for the occasion, wearing open-necked white shirts and chinos.

Catherine looked elegant in a grey and white Hobbs Check Wessex summer dress. It was available for £35.00 (£119.00), but is now sold out. (The website states: The bestselling Wessex dress returns for Spring/Summer 2012 in a new grey and white checked print.

It is also available at all of their UK stores in linen, and features a flattering '50s inspired silhouette with a full skirt and nipped in waist. It also has short sleeves and a concealed back zip.) All the three royals are keen sportspersons.

Kate Middleton outshone as a youngster at netball, hockey and tennis. While William and Harry, are both adept polo players and swimmers. So this was a perfect engagement for the royals as they watched juniors being put through their paces by the coaches at various sports like judo, basketball, five-a-side football and table tennis.

The Greenhouse charity through the ‘Coach Care’ project hopes that talented young sportsmen and women will be able to motivate their wards and build a future for them-selves in sport. And if it succeeds in its mission, the foundation aspires to carry forward the initiative to other sectors where inspiring young coaches can become role models for and encourage young people.

All the three royals participated in different sports at the academy school and seem to have a ball with all youngsters. While Prince Harry went to a basketball demo, Kate Middleton took part in a table-tennis and judo demo. Prince William participated in football practice session with dozens of schoolchildren who were practicing shooting, dribbling and passing skills.

The Duke of Cambridge later gave an inspiring speech in which he emphasized on the significance of sports in life. He said: "Over the next month, the eyes of the world will be on Great Britain. For us to hold the Olympic and the Paralympic Games here in London is a great moment for our nation, which itself is steeped in sporting history’

‘Therefore, for Catherine, Harry and me there could be no better way of starting this epic time than being with you here in Rotherhithe, so close to the heart of London 2012, to launch Coach Core,’ he added.

Are Wills and Kate at loggerheads over Pippa?

The Duchess of Cambridge has invited her sister to move in with her and William into their apartment at Kensington Palace, hoping to improve their strained relationship.

Prince William, however, has refused to entertain this idea. So the question uppermost is are the husband and wife now at loggerheads over this issue?

As royal watchers are aware, Kate Middleton, 30 and her sister Pippa, 28 have shared a close bonding with each other, right from their childhood.

This, despite the few hiccups along the way due to the party-loving ways of the latter which has caused embarrassment to the disciplined Catherine and the royals.

It is only recently that the sisters have reconciled visiting Wimbledon finals together, where the tennis crazy pair have been seen talking animatedly with each other.

The latest gesture of inviting Pippa home is believed to be the soft-hearted Catherine's way of healing their broken relationship after they fell out due to the former's waywardness.

Therefore when the unexpected invite came, Pippa Middleton, 28 could not have been more thrilled. Sadly for ‘her royal hotness’, Prince William put his foot down telling his wife: 'No way!' This harsh reaction means the proud party-planner will not be visiting Kensington Palace anytime soon.

A royal source disclosed: 'Kate hasn't got many people around her who she can really let her hair down with, so she thought it would be great to have Pippa move in.’

It is but natural where Kate Middleton is concerned not to speak her mind to just about any one, as being a royal she has got to be discreet at all times. But Pippa is someone she trusts implicitly.

The source said: 'She missed her (Pippa's) company so much during their recent falling-out… Pippa jumped at the offer, but Wills wasn't so keen.” This must have been a real dampener for Duchess Kate.

Explaining Prince William’s stance in the matter, the royal insider opined: 'Although he and Pippa get on really well, he thinks Kate's pushing it too quickly as she and Pippa have only just got their relationship back on track.”

Apparently, the level-headed Prince could see the pitfalls in the still fragile relationship between the sisters, as too much closeness would be bad for them in the long run hence sensibly put a stop to it.
The same source surmised: 'He feared it could lead to another big bust-up between the girls and leave Kate hurt again.'

It may be noted Prince William and Kate Middleton already share their Kensington Palace home with Prince Harry, and have been refurbishing their plush apartments at the luxury palace for their perfect London pad.

So with Pippa too entering the portals it would indeed be a crowd, but will this refusal by Prince William upset his wife Kate Middleton, after all she does treat William's brother Harry so well. Hope Kate the refusal in the right spirit.

By the way, do you think Prince William was right in not giving permission to Pippa to stay at Kensington Palace?

Did Camilla’s sudden visit to Duchess Kate cause Wills & Charles clash?

Things have been far from hunky-dory between father and son Prince William and Prince Charles, reported Globe earlier. But now the relationship is said to be even worse ever since Camilla Parker-Bowles decided to make an unsolicited visit to Kate Middleton recently.

Apparently she did so as she wanted to take advantage of William’s absence to join Catherine for a spontaneous tea party. However, there was nothing innocuous in Camilla’s visit. Her reason for dropping by was actually to try to humiliate Duchess Kate.

According to sources, Camilla has been acting ‘particularly obnoxious’ ever since Queen Elizabeth announced the new royal decree by which Duchess Kate had to curtsy to senior royals like Camilla in public, whenever Prince William was not around. Camilla has been said to be exploiting the new rule to lord over modest Kate.

The backdrop to the confrontation between Prince Charles and William requires some clarification. By popular sentiment Prince William was expecting to ascend the throne but has now become quite bitter ever since his grandma Queen Elizabeth II took the decision that Prince of Wales (Charles) will be succeeding her to the throne.

This despite the fact that majority of the Britons (according to surveys) prefer the more popular and respectable William as a perfect choice for being the British monarch. William’s friends opine that he was “stabbed in the back” by his own father.

Apparently, Prince Charles convinced the 86-year-old Queen that William and Kate were just “too immature” to take on the responsibility of the British Crown. GLOBE (print edition, July 30, 2012) quoted a palace insider in this context.

“William is convinced Camilla was the puppet master behind the Queen’s decision. He believes she persuaded hapless Charles it would be best for the nation if William and Kate were left to go on with the rest of their lives and raise a family,” disclosed the insider.

However, the intuitive and worldly-wise William knows the truth – “He sure that Camilla only wanted to realize her dream of becoming one of the world’s richest and most powerful women. It’s the only reason she’s staying in her sham marriage,” add the inside source.

But Queen Elizabeth’s deal with son Charles has a rider attached. She has agreed to allow him to ascend the throne after her, provided he keeps his marriage to Camilla intact. As it is the whole world knows about Charles murky divorce from William’s mother, Princess Diana amidst a terrible scandal.

At that point Charles was said to be cheating her with Camilla and nearly everyone knew it. Hence a second divorce now would be out of the question as it would permanently impair Charles’ chance of becoming Britain’s King. He needs to do everything in his power to keep the batty Camilla happy and she is said to be quite a handful.

Against this backdrop, just imagine the shock that Duchess Kate must have got when out of the blue, the wily Camilla telephoned her and announced that she was coming over for tea! “Camilla told her, you and I need to talk and I’m not going to leave until we thrash things out once and for all. I want you to show me respect!”

The palace insider believes Camilla’s sole intention in visiting Kate was to humiliate her and use the opportunity to bend Kate to her will. The source said: “Charles’s wife called her chauffeur-driven car, snootily telling Kate she expected tea ready and waiting -on the very best China – the moment she arrived It was intended to be an insult – and Kate reacted like she’d been slapped in the face!”

Well, as anyone can well imagine, the little impromptu tea party was a super flop. However, later when William got to hear about Camilla’s machinations, he is said to have confronted his dad. He was even overheard telling Charles: “Camilla was completely out of order; she was not invited and had no business being in my house!”

Naturally, Charles was enraged at William’s sharp comments, especially since he is doing everything to appease Camilla so that she remains docile and does not destroy his chance of becoming the king. As it is, he is least bothered whether Camilla wants to make Kate curtsy to her or not, it’s inconsequential to him. Apparently, the exchange between father and son got pretty nasty.

All the gory details plus what took place at the tea party between Camilla and Kate Middleton can be read in this week’s Globe issue. Of course it’s left to the readers’ discretion to believe or not whatever is being reported by Globe. Would love to know what you think about this exchange and the backdrop to the royal fracas.

Prince William tells Charles to keep wily Camilla off Kate Middleton

Here is a not so happy piece of news but juicy enough to up the antennae of Royal watchers. Reportedly an ugly brawl has erupted between the royal father and son duo, threatening to cause an insurmountable rift between them and even result in a split within the Royal family.

The Globe magazine in its July 30th edition reports on this week’s cover story that a highly irate Prince William demanded that his father, Prince Charles control his wily wife, Camilla Parker-Bowles and keep her away from messing with his beloved wife, Kate Middleton.

According to the shocking report in America’s Globe magazine, Prince William has been arguing heatedly with his father because of Camilla. A source disclosed: “William exploded in a rage and ordered his Dad, ‘Keep Camilla away from Kate!”

The root cause of all these discords coming out of Buckingham Palace is said to be Queen Elizabeth’s recent updated ‘Order of Precedence’ by which the Duchess of Cambridge has to show deference and curtsy to ‘blood princesses’ and senior royals, when her husband Prince William is not around.

Now this decree is being misused unscrupulously within the palace. The till now low profile wife of Prince Charles, Camilla Parker Bowles is said to have changed drastically. She is understood to be misusing the Queen’s decree to boss over the hapless Kate Middleton.

Apparently Camilla and the blood princes and princesses were upset by the fact that a ‘Commoner’ Kate was given the privileged position next to Queen Elizabeth at the Diamond Jubilee celebrations, while they were left out in the cold.

To counter that insult as also not really happy at seeing the entire spotlight on the ever popular Kate Middleton during the function, the select group of royals is said to have petitioned the Queen to put Kate in her place, once and for all. The result, Kate is now forced to curtsy and she does.

While it’s true as per royal standards and lineage, Kate Middleton is much below the blue blood princesses and princes. And despite the fact that one day in future Kate will be Queen Consort, the irate bunch is penalizing her now.

What is really shocking is that Camilla-Parker Bowles is said to be more than gleeful at Kate’s humiliation. The wily Camilla recently caught up with Kate Middleton in the palace passage where an ugly spat ensued.

According to Globe’s report in last week’s print edition of (July 23rd), Camilla confronted Kate in the palace corridor and demanded: ‘You must curtsy to me – right now!’ To which, reportedly, Kate hit back at crazy Camilla ‘Never! You make me sick!’

The crafty Camilla through her quiet machinations has already ensured that the Queen decide to have Charles ascend the British throne and enjoy the privilege of being a Queen Consort. Apparently this rude shock has made Prince William go on a drinking spree (which seems to be a little too far-fetched).

In addition to this set-back, Kate Middleton is now expected to genuflect before this wily woman. The print edition of Globe gives the entire gist of the heated conflict between Prince William and his father over batty Camilla, as also all the tidbits of the latest palace scandal and gossip.

Duchess Kate targeted for her dieting, accused of ‘starving herself'

This week's issue of NOW magazine (23 July, 2012) reports about the anguish caused to the British royals over the publication of pictures taken of the private moments shared between Prince William and his bride Kate Middleton, during their honeymoon at Seychelles in July last year.

NOW Magazine July 23’ 2012 Cover:
Kate is accused of starving herself
The report goes on to inform how Kate’s pictures, particularly, sparked off online abuse, with detractors posting on the internet blogs and websites, assailing Duchess Kate for her lanky body-frame. Critics online dubbed as trolls, accused the Duchess of ‘starving herself.’

Will and Kate seen on the Seychelles beach

The Duchess of Cambridge was at the center of the new body controversy last week when Australian tabloid magazine Woman’s Day published bikini shots of her during her honeymoon which was kept a top secret.

Will &  Kate frolicking in Seychelles waters
The photographs showed Kate, 30 wearing a skimpy black bikini strolling along a Seychelles beach with new hubby Prince William attired in multicolored swimming trunk. But it wasn’t their romantic hand-holding that got everyone's attention. It was Kate’s ultra-thin frame.

The Duchess had toned down her body to a size 6 for her wedding in April 2011. However, when the photographs were splashed on websites and blogs last week, online detractors had a field day ripping the Duchess of Cambridge to shreds.

According to them she had taken her dieting fad a bit too far. One critic called Dereka posted: ‘She looks like she is starving herself,’ while another called Yazie added: ‘Kate, eat something.’ While Lucas, 23 said: “She has the body of a lanky teenage boy’

Lean body of Kate in a  swimsuit.

Jeanne Adams wrote under the heading 'New Kate Middleton Anorexic Rumors' rather bitchily: ‘Those two love vacations, and if Kate continues to wear a bikini and have shoulders twice as wide as her hips, then she’s going to have more problems from the media.’

Adams then goes on to add: ‘The couple were relaxed and thought they were alone and now the whole world knows about Kate’s unhealthy-looking body and will have an opinion.’

So how did Kate tackle this tough situation? Well, in the only way she can and that is by letting the power of the Palace to do the talking. She got the Palace to put out a request for respecting their privacy. And most of the medias' in UK and websites world-wide responded quite well by removing the pictures.

Duchess Kate given £300,000 thank-you cheque by Buckingham Palace

A grateful Buckingham Palace has handed over to the Duchess of Cambridge a hefty sum of £300,000 to donate to the charity of Princes William and Harry. The reason, well, it’s a thank-you gesture from the Royals for lending her wedding dress to them for display before the public, which went on to be a super hit.

It’s well known that it is largely due to Duchess Kate’s magnetic appeal (the ‘Kate effect’) that the Royal charitable foundation’s fortunes received a big boost, almost ten fold. Aware of this fact, Princes William and Harry took a significant step last week of changing the name of their joint foundation to include Catherine’s title, thus recognizing her contribution to the foundation.

Any further proof of Duchess Kate’s mass appeal can be gauged by the fact that a big cheque is already in transit to the Royal Foundation of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry, reports The Daily Telegraph.

A sum of £300,000 out of the Royal Collection of the Palace have been given to the charity as a thank-you to Duchess Kate for graciously permitting her priceless wedding dress to be show-cased as center piece at the summer opening of Buckingham Palace to the general public in 2011.

Catherine’s famous bridal gown, designed by Sarah Burton, proved to be such a massive hit that it increased the number of visitors to the Queen’s London residence by 191,000. Official reports suggest that more than £10 million was spent on admission tickets. This is an increase of almost £3.5 million from 2011.

Sales of royal memorabilia at the palace’s shops were £3.87 million, a rise of nearly £1.7 million. Jonathan Marsden, the Director of the Royal Collection informed: “Unprecedented numbers came to see the Duchess’s wedding dress.”

Merchandises pertaining to the royal wedding and Diamond Jubilee accounted for 75% of online sales by the palace’s shops. Official statistics also show the Princes’ charity raising a remarkable £4.8 million in 2011, compared with just £629,000 in 2010, before the announcement of Prince William and Kate Middleton’s engagement.
