Very few women in the world can
hope to compete with a dog when it comes to vying for attention from her man,
even if she happens to be the future Queen of England.
Well, one is referring to Prince
William, who was seen busy cuddling and showering kisses on his pet Cocker
Spaniel puppy Lupo after a local charity polo match. However, wife Kate
Middleton seemed willing to play second fiddle, as she observed the super
bonding between man and animal.

Duchess Kate had turned up on the
weekend to watch her husband Prince William and brother-in-law Prince Harry
play at a charity match on the final day of the Gloucestershire Festival of
Polo, at the Beaufort Polo Club on Sunday, June 17.
Just as the charity match got
over, Prince William, who turns 30 in a few days, dismounted from his horse and
quickly swept Lupo into his arms. He then showered the six-month-old puppy with
repeated tender kisses, even as wife Kate Middleton watched with amusement the
tender moment shared between the two-some.
While royal protocol may be
preventing Prince William from doing the same with Catherine in public, she
told a bunch of school kids that he spoils her rotten in private. On a royal
visit last Saturday, Duchess Kate told the kids: "William is very sweet
and kind of spoils me."
Meanwhile, with regard to this
particular polo event, Prince William and Harry through this polo match are
helping to raise money for children's charities such as Well Child, Child
Bereavement and Tusk Trust, a conservation charity the duo supports.
Also attending the charity event
were other royals Zara Phillips and husband Mike Tindall, Peter Phillips and
wife Autumn Phillips with their daughters Savannah
and Isla Elizabeth in tow.
Meanwhile, 18-month-old Savannah seemed fascinated
by Lupo. Seeing this open adoration, Duchess Kate took it upon herself to give
some quick lesson in dog training. She showed the infant how to hold on to his
leash, even as the pup stood there dutifully.
Ever since Lupo was born in December, from a litter of pups bred by Duchess Kate’s mother Carole Middleton and handed over to the royals, the trio Prince William, Catherine and Lupo has been inseparable.

Lupo actually took the place of Prince William's childhood pet Labrador Widgeon, who died in 2010. There was lot of speculation with regard to the Cocker Spaniel’s name as Royal spokespersons’ in the beginning did not give out Lupo's name.
Later it was Duchess Kate who
herself let the cat out of the bag (or rather the dog). Catherine disclosed the
pup’s name in an informal chat with schoolchildren during a visit to a primary
school in Oxford.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are rarely seen
without their beloved doggie. In-fact Lupo has caused such a sensation that his
legion of admirers have now even set up a twitter account viz., - @HRH_Lupo -
to keep track of the royal black fur puppy's every movement.
