While nearly the entire world is going gaga over Duchess of Cambridge’s sense of elegance and style, one shoe designer seems to be particularly unimpressed and has gone so far as to chide her on her taste in footwear.
The favorite designer of celebrities like Beyonce and Sarah Jessica Parker, Nicolas Kirwood has expressed his strong views on Kate Middleton’s preference for high street stuff. He feels she can do better, considering she is royalty.
Thankfully the German designer’s disapproval of Kate Middleton's penchant for high street footwear is not quite as blunt as Vivienne Westwood's open criticism of Duchess Kate's 'ordinary' style.
In an interview to The Daily Beast, Kirkwood opines, "She just wears too much high street stuff. I know she's trying to be democratic, but I don't know how many pairs of LK Bennett you can wear,” he queries ironically.
At the same time Nicholas Kirkwood admits that he keeps an eye on Kate Middleton and her choice of shoes. He is especially pleased when she steps out in high-end designers' creations.

"She does occasionally come out and is wearing (Alexander) McQueen or something like that. It’s like, 'Do that more! You’re meant to be a princess-y type of person, so act like one,'" he advices a bit sternly.
Kirkwood is famous for his innovative and unique shoe designs, so its no surprise that he finds Kate Middleton's taste a little too conservative.
Meanwhile, Nicholas Kirkwood has been busy designing a special 'Pearly Queen' heel for Selfridges in honor of Her Majesty - The Queen's Diamond Jubilee next month.

Hopefully Duchess Catherine will get to hear of Kirkwood’s views. Who knows, the pragmatic Duchess may well surprise him by wearing one his creations during her next public engagement. Amen to that.
